I recently came across an InformationWeek article that discussed “Private Clouds: Tough to Build with Today’s Tech”, where InformationWeek discussed the results of their Virtualization Management Survey of 396 business technology pros. Their findings were interesting, especially when you consider the buzz around private cloud automation these days. Not too surprisingly, they found that “Forty-eight percent of our survey respondents are working toward private clouds, and another 33% are investigating them.”
As we continue to talk to various organizations, we too are finding that private cloud adoption is no longer just a buzzword – there are, in fact, quite a few organizations today who are actually adopting the private cloud. But, as InformationWeek points, out, “While the vendors are solving one problem of implementing private cloud, no one offers a good way to run this larger infrastructure.”
This brings us back to the early days of virtualization. While everyone could talk to the benefits of virtualizing their data center, not everyone had the foresight to see that sooner or later, organizations would also need to implement virtualization management solutions to actually realize these benefits.
