Virtualization has evolved from a useful tool for IT operations administrators to one of the most important strategic technologies for the datacenter. It’s clear however, that virtualization brings challenges along with its advantages. IT managers and administrators have consistently identified virtual sprawl as one of the most significant concerns with moving forward with virtualization.

V-Commander Prevents Virtual Sprawl

IT administrators and managers prevent sprawl with V-Commander:

  • Extend existing management processes by using the Embotics VM ID like a virtual asset tag
  • Monitor and understand your virtual environment by tracking VM lineage and history via V-Commander's dashboard and reports
  • Ensure only approved, or authorized, VMs are deployed
  • Reclaim resources by setting expiry dates on each VM
  • Automate policy, such as approved deployment or resource reclamation, as your virtual infrastructure grows

In fact, the moment the first server is consolidated, the potential for virtual sprawl exists. Your virtual infrastructure is sprawling the moment that the proliferation of virtual machines has outstripped your ability to keep track of them.  Exacerbating the problems is the issue that virtual server environments are dynamic and that traditional datacenter control systems can have trouble, counting, managing or even seeing virtual machines.
