Why You Need a DevSecOps Strategy

The way enterprises use the cloud is changing. Next-generation applications, built and delivered using DevOps methodology, are moving to the cloud. These virtual environments continue to evolve as enterprises move IT to the cloud, enabling the scalability and flexibility of on-demand resources. But with this next generation comes the need for increased security as many of these applications are not only complex, but can potentially have different types of security issues ranging from misconfigured servers to bad code.

Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud Management Platforms

Today is a pretty big day for us here at Embotics. As you may have seen, Gartner this week released its first-ever Magic Quadrant for Cloud Management Platforms [1]. We are thrilled to see that Embotics was positioned in the leader quadrant in Gartner’s inaugural snapshot of the CMP market. It’s certainly an exciting way to kick off the new year!

We are not surprised to see Embotics named as a leader – it’s a position that each employee here works hard every day to reinforce. Some of the largest companies across the world with the most complex hybrid cloud environments rely on us to automate provisioning and enable self-service capabilities across private, public and hybrid cloud infrastructures, and this recognition goes a long way to show us we’re doing a pretty good job at it.

Is It Time for Cloud Automation?

Being a cloud administrator is hard work.

And if you’re reading this, I probably don’t have to tell you that.

More and more, end users rely on computing resources and services to do their jobs effectively – which can be a challenge (not to mention a time-suck) for system administrators.

Hybrid Cloud Management Survey: The Problem with Existing CMP Deployments

Earlier this year, Embotics teamed up with the Ponemon Institute on a survey looking at enterprise priorities for hybrid cloud management. The purpose of that research was to understand the opportunities, challenges, costs and risks companies experience as they manage their public, private and hybrid cloud infrastructures and emerging application container environments. You can check out the full report here.

Hybrid Cloud is the New Enterprise Reality – Are You Ready?

For decades, the only organizations that had true IT functions were the ones that could afford the infrastructure and manpower costs of building their own data centers – either on or off-premise. Today, a new company can buy cloud resources, like AWS, and realistically be up and running in the cloud in a single day. But the sheer proliferation of the cloud has presented a unique range of benefits and challenges. On one hand, companies are experiencing increased efficiency, cost savings, workload scalability and speed. On the other, trends like shadow IT have made it harder for organizations to track employee activities, manage cloud resources and embrace emerging technologies like DevOps, microservices and containers.

Transforming How Fanatics Licenses Sports Apparel with Embotics

As server virtualization continues to mature, many organizations are moving beyond simple virtualization into public, private or hybrid cloud environments. Such environments allow authorized users to create their own virtual machines based on templates that are listed in a service cloud. However, self-service models introduce additional complexity and increase the potential for IT resources to be wasted and for costs to spiral out of control. In turn, IT departments are challenged with managing infrastructures that deploy tens of thousands of virtual machines across multiple operating systems in multiple datacenters and fulfilment centers.

Hybrid Cloud Management Survey: The Visibility Problem

A few weeks ago, we announced the results of a survey conducted by the Ponemon Institute. The survey looked at the responses of more than 600 IT leaders responsible for cloud management within their organizations and led to some interesting findings about the gap between their expectations around the value of DevOps, containers and microservices and their organizations’ current enablement capabilities. You can check out the full report here.
