Multi-Cloud Cost Management and Financial Analytics Software Released
OTTAWA, Ontario – April 22, 2014 – Embotics®, a leading provider of enterprise-class Cloud Management Software, today announced it is releasing a set of new multi-cloud cost management and financial analytics capabilities within its latest release of the Embotics vCommander™ software. The new vCommander 5.1 release is generally available this month, April 2014, and will expand on the company’s mission of helping enterprises and service providers to better analyze, orchestrate, govern and broker across multi-hypervisor and multi-cloud environments.
Support for IBM SoftLayer®, Microsoft® Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Rackspace® Public Cloud has been added to vCommander 5.1, allowing Embotics’ users to model and compare the economics of running their workloads across one or more hypervisor and cloud platforms. These new platforms are in addition to the support within vCommander for VMware® vSphere®, Microsoft Hyper-V, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and the OpenStack® based HP Cloud.
“We have enhanced the innovative capabilities of the Embotics vCommander Cloud Management Platform to model economics and make comparative financial recommendations across a growing set of on-premises hypervisor and off-premises cloud platforms. This powerful new software allows our customers to make informed decisions regarding where to place their workloads and how best to optimize their costs over time,” said Jay Litkey, Founder and President of Embotics.
“Embotics’ philosophy remains ‘No vendor lock-in’. Our customers value freedom of choice and the ability to deploy and manage platform-neutral IT services across private, public and hybrid cloud environments based on economic recommendations, these are very important to them,” added Michael Torto, Chief Executive Officer of Embotics.
Embotics vCommander 5.1 continuously monitors and discovers a user’s existing virtual assets contained within their data centers and off-premises public clouds. Through integrated financial analytics, vCommander helps quantify the costs of operating the current virtual infrastructure, and then performs comparative assessments and recommendations across alternative hypervisor and cloud platforms.
“As a platinum channel partner of Embotics, we are excited to offer this new cross-cloud capability to the market,” said Mark Westling, Chief Technology Officer of Right! Systems Inc. and also a founding member of the M7 Global Partners, a leading consortium of leading IT Solutions Providers. “Platform-neutral, open hybrid cloud computing is the way of the future and certainly supports our role as a trusted advisor for our customers. Understanding ‘which cloud is right for me?’ can be a very difficult question to answer and requires sophisticated software analytics like those contained in Embotics vCommander to do well.”
Embotics vCommander 5.1 also consists of a number of other new capabilities including:
- Support for HP Public Cloud extending vCommander’s self-service and provisioning automation.
- A number of enhanced workflow capabilities allowing for even faster automation of IT-as-a-Service (ITaaS) delivery; for example, out-of-the-box BlueCat IPAM integration.
- Console connection proxy providing self-service users access to their Virtual Machines (VMs) without the need for direct network access to the underlying hypervisor management platform—VMware vCenter or Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM). This is especially important for secure enterprise environments and managed service providers.
Embotics’ 100+ clients now include such high profile organizations as NASA, Cisco, the Netherlands Ministry of Defence, Cablevision, McKinsey & Company, Jabil Circuit, and Peak 10. One of Embotics’ largest deployments provides federated management of close to 30 globally distributed data centers.
